๐Ÿงถ Crochet Peppermint Pillow Pattern

Materials:

Special Stitches:

Color change double crochet (ccdc): Using the current color, yo, insert hook in the st, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, yo with new color, draw through last 2 lps of st to complete the dc with the new color. (The loop on the hook will be the top of the next stitch!)

Instructions:

Starting with white yarn:

Round 1:  Chain 4. 11 dc in 4th ch from the hook. Sl st to the top of the ch 3.  (The chain 3 counts as a dc here and throughout.)  (12)

Round 2:  Chain 3 and in the same st, make a ccdc, changing to the other yarn color. In the next st, *(dc and ccdc)*. Repeat from * around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. There should be 6 stripes of white and 6 stripes of the other color. (24)

Round 3: Chain 3. In the next st, (dc and ccdc). *Dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (36)

Round 4: Chain 3. Dc, (dc and ccdc). *2 dc, (dc, ccdc).* (Image 5) Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (48)

Round 5: Chain 3. 2 dc, (dc and ccdc). *3 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (60)

For the Small pillow, finish off here. Repeat Rounds 1 through 5 to make another peppermint. This time, leave long tails in both colors for sewing. Proceed with sewing and stuffing instructions. For medium and large pillows, continue on to Round 6.

Round 6: Chain 3. 3 dc, (dc and ccdc). *4 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (72)

Round 7: Chain 3. 4 dc, (dc and ccdc). *5 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (84)

Round 8: Chain 3. 5 dc, (dc and ccdc). *6 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (96)

For the Medium pillow, finish off here. Repeat Rounds 1 through 8 to make another peppermint. This time, leave long tails in both colors for sewing. Proceed with sewing and stuffing instructions. For large pillows, continue on to Round 9.

Round 9: Chain 3. 6 dc, (dc and ccdc). *7 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (108)

Round 10: Chain 3. 7 dc, (dc and ccdc). *8 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (120)

Round 11: Chain 3. 8 dc, (dc and ccdc). *9 dc, (dc, ccdc).* Repeat from *around. Sl st to the top of the ch 3. (132)

For the Large pillow, finish off here. Repeat Rounds 1 through 11 to make another peppermint. This time, leave long tails about 60 inches long in both colors for sewing. Proceed with sewing and stuffing instructions.

Using yarn needles, thread each long tail of yarn into a needle. Place the peppermints back to back and line them up so that the colors match up. Whip stitch the peppermints together, using the matching color of the first segment you are going to sew. Once that color segment is sewn together, drop that color down into the peppermint and use the next color to whip stitch the next segment of the peppermint with the matching yarn color. Continue on, dropping the unused yarn tail into the peppermint so that the dragged yarn color will not be seen on top of the peppermint. When you only have 2 segments left to sew, stuff your peppermint. Then continue sewing. Once it is all sewn, finish off and weave in ends!
